History:
Formed in 1987, the Society is a not for profit organization dedicated to providing
opportunities to study textiles and their cultural, artistic, and technical context.
The Society produces newsletters, sponsors biennial symposia and workshops,
encourages study and research, and grants awards honoring work in the field of
textiles. For historical information on the Textile Society of America (TSA), please
see "About the TSA". The
Archives & Special Collections, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Libraries serves
as the official repository for the TSA records.
Scope and Content:
The TSA records include bylaws, incorporation articles, and minutes and reports for
semiannual Board meetings. The information regarding the biennial symposia from 1988
through 2004 includes participant lists, planning information, programs and
schedules, the published proceedings of the symposia, and the final reports of
symposium committees. TSA newsletters are published three times per year. Other
records note the establishment of the R.L. Shep book award and the organization of
international study tours. Selected symposia proceedings and study tour
documentation is available only on compact discs.
