Scope and Contents

The single letter is written from New York by William Jay(?) to "my dear sir." The letter includes thanks for sympathy on the death of the author's daughter. It also references slavery, war, politics, and references the names Daniel Webster, "Mr. Clay" and "Kossuth," most likely referring to Henry Clay and Louis Kossuth.
