Biography:
Sue C. Cummings published the book titled Album Quilts of
Ohio's Miami Valley (Ohio University Press, 2008), which documents the
quilts created by family and others in this area of Ohio.
Scope and Content:
The Cummings Papers include research and sources for information on quilts at the
International Quilt Museum and those represented in Sue Cummins' published book.
Among the items are correspondence, articles, and other items related to an
individual, their family connections, or a specific quilt.
Identification numbers in parentheses (i.e. 2016.014.0021) correspond to the IQSC

Series Description:
Series 1: QuiltsThe Quilts series contains correspondence, genealogy records, and research
related to Miami River Valley quilts and quiltmakers. International Quilt
Museum object numbers are in parenthesis (i.e. 2016.014.0021) when
applicable. Photographs associated with Miami Valley quilts, family
portraits, and photographs from Sue Cummings' publications Album Quilts of Ohio's Miami Valley and "Irene
Post: Quilt Artist and Neighbor of Bertha Strenge" are located in box 7.
Series 2: Research and Data, 1910-1962This series contains Sue Cummings' research on quilts and fabrics including
newspaper and magazine articles, patterns, quilting and fabric
organizations, and catalogs. Significant items include a circa 1900-1930s
homemade quilt pattern scrapbook (box 5, folder 2). This series also
contains correspondence, drafts, edits, and research relating to Cummings'
article, "Irene Post: Quilt Artist and Neighbor of Bertha Strenge" published
in Uncoverings 2008. Additional materials
include audio visual items such as Old Quilt Warehouse Video Catalog of
Antique Quilts (1996), a "A Gathering of Red Green" presentation, and a
digital copy of Sue Cummings' Irene Post article (2008).
