Biography:
The University of Nebraska Block and Bridle club was formed in 1919 when students
from animal husbandry clubs in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska met in Chicago,
Illinois, to form a national organization. The club focuses on promoting animal
husbandy and associated scholastic and student standards for academic animal
husbandry programs.
Scope and Content:
The Block and Bridle Club records contain annual publications, award banquet
programs, newspaper articles, memos, an event poster and ticket, and photographs of
club members, Nebraska Big Red Beef Progress show, cattle exhibitions, and other
events.

Series 1: Publications and Programs, 1921-2004This series includes annual club publications, award banquet programs,
newspaper clippings, memos, and an event poster and ticket.
Series 2: Photographs, 1952-1995Photograph subjects include the University of Nebraska Big Red Beef Progress
show and cattle exhibitions. Slides contain pictures from Christmas coffee,
Little Aksarben, meat judging contests, national and regional meetings,
Quadrathalon, steak fry fundraisers, spring tours, horse and beef shows,
alumni and honor banquets, and other club events.
