History:

The Nebraska High School Press Association (NHSPA) operated under the supervision of an executive secretary from the School of Journalism. For example, faculty members Gene Harding and Neale Copple both served as executive secretary. The association included students from high schools in Lincoln, Omaha, and other high schools in Nebraska, such as Grand Island and North Platte. NHSPA oversaw the Silver Key contests that showcased winners in advertising, editing, newswriting, photograph, and work on yearbooks. These contests were renamed the Nebraska Journalism Championships. The association also held business meetings and workshops for its membership.

Scope and Content:

The NHSPA publications are those produced by the organization through the School of Journalism. They include announcements, articles, and photographs that were authored or created by association members.
