History:
In 1991, the Sheldon Film Theater officially became named after benefactor Mary Riepma
Ross. Despite the name change, films were still shown in the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery.
In 2003, the film theater was moved to a new building on campus, the Mary Riepma Ross Media
Arts Center. The Center is administered through the Hixon Lied College of Fine and
Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. For more historical information

Scope and Content:
The correspondence includes letters to and from Mary Riepma Ross. The calendars, mailings,
and invitations served as publicity for films shown at the Theater.
